Coach Zauner has a teaching philosophy of coaching 'A Natural Style of Punting' which emphasizes the "Eyes" following the ball after you punt or kick the football. During this lesson you will see coach emphasizing some basic punting fundamentals with this novice punter. As a soccer goalie, he tosses the ball up with two hands and punts it. Coach explains the proper form for a punter is to present the ball with two hands and drop it with one hand. Coach believes in a two hand / one hand Nose Down Lever Drop with slight drift Approach to hit a spiral nose over punt. In the beginning of the lesson the young athlete struggles to work a proper drop with a football. You will see coach use a soccer ball to teach a proper two hand / one hand Lever drop with a soccer ball into the net. They advance to the Drop Zone Drill to work a two hand / one hand nose down lever drop with the "Eyes" following the ball and walking downfield. I believe the best way to coach any beginner is to use a soccer ball, so he has some success!
